Problem Plus In IIT Mathematics A Das Gupta book is renowned name in field of iit jee. Problems Plus in IIT Mathematics is meant for students who aspire to take the entrance. examinations of different technical institutions, especially IIT. In writing this book, have drawn heavily from my experience in teaching students preparing for JEE (IIT). Many students do well at the board examinations and in their coaching courses, and yet falter at JEE (II). The reasons for this are

  • - They are unable to apply their knowledge to new situations.
  • - They often cannot detect the area(s) of mathematics on which a problem is based.
  • - At JEE (IIT), the student’s ability to apply the concepts learned to new situations is tested.
  • - A number of concepts from different areas of mathematics are mixed, creating new situations. They fail to complete the paper within the given time.
  • - They are often unable to detect the form of the problem. any one of the following forms: A problem may be set in
  • 1. Direct 2. Indirect 3. Inverted.

The aim of this book (Problem Plus In IIT Mathematics A Das Gupta) is to provide sufficient practice in a methodical manner to help students overcome these difficulties. It is assumed that they have already gone through standard textbooks of the +2 level and know the different mathematical concepts at this level. They know how to solve problems up to a certain level of difficulty, and are now ready to tackle problems that require a bit more application or in some cases, additional knowledge. The collection of these problems has, therefore, been dubbed Problems Plus.

  • The salient features of the book are:At the beginning of every chapter, a summary of facts, formulae and working techniques are given, with examples wherever necessary. A number of finer points, tricks, techniques, etc., have been given and marked with the icon. A large number of problems of higher-difficulty level have been worked out. These include many problems already set in competitive examinations, and which illustrate an important point or technique, and many newly framed ones.

Since basic knowledge of the chapter is assumed, the Selected Solved Examples section starts with problems with a slightly higher level of difficulty. A large number of the problems in the exercises are newly framed. They have been put in short-answer, long-answer, and objective forms. Problems have been given in direct, indirect, and inverted forms.. At the end of each chapter, there is a time-bound chapter test. Students should try to finish the test within the time indicated.

  • At the end of the book (Problem Plus In IIT Mathematics A Das Gupta), seven practice tests, based on the knowledge of all the chapters, are given.. This is followed by Miscellaneous Exercises. This will help the reader in gaining confidence in solving problems without prior knowledge of the chapter(s) to which the problems belong. The book Problem Plus In IIT Mathematics A Das Gupta contains about 1000 worked-out problems and about 4000 problems given as exercise. After going through this book, I am certain that the readers will find themselves more comfortable and confident in facing new problems.
